I am currently working on a new series of paintings for my August and September shows. These new works are inspired by images I collected at the bunkers at Fort Worden. I was drawn to the interwoven layers of graffitti and paint. In some of the images there is just a hint of what is underneath the paint.
Here’s a look at some of the paintings….

Your works have sculptural and tactile qualities that, while clearly engaging with the precepts of painting, avoid any form of idealism. As a result, despite the evidence of a certain inclination toward aestheticism, the paintings never fall into mere decoration, but could be described as fetishistic. To the contrary, your virtuosity is instilled in the form of rhetoric-in a material form of writing that cancels out the decorative.
Look forward to your next body of works.
